Q. How do I add your podcasts to my software?
Q. What free podcast software can I get?
Q. This is great - can I contribute to the next podcast?
What is podcasting? Podcasting is a way to receive audio files and listen to them from a computer or load them onto an MP3 player. It’s perfect for listening to the Litopia Podcast while you’re on the go… Or while you’re in the gym… Or even in bed! You can subscribe to a podcast and have content you’ve selected automatically delivered to you.
Do I need an iPod or other MP3 player to listen? No! You can play podcasts using free software loaded onto your computer. This software could be iTunes (available for both Mac and PC) or Windows Media Player, or other software listed below.
How does it work? First you’ll need to install podcasting software to begin - see the list below. Once you’ve downloaded and installed the software, copy the podcast link and add to your player. The podcast link is:

Who are you? The LITOPIA podcasts come from Litopia Writers’ Colony, one of the Internet’s oldest communities for writers. The shows are hosted by Peter Cox. We draw our guests very widely from the media world: from titans of publishing to novice novelists… everyone gets a crack if they have something important to say and a witty way of saying it. We aim to both entertain and inform.
What are your podcasts? We currently have two podcasts - LITOPIA DAILY and LITOPIA AFTER DARK. LITOPIA DAILY is a, er, daily podcast and very short - usually no more than seven or eight minutes. Long enough for your tea or coffee break - not so long as to consume your valuable writing time. LITOPIA DAILY aims to bring you the the key news and behind-the-scenes insight from the worlds of publishing, film, television and new media - all from the writer’s point of view.
LITOPIA AFTER DARK is our weekly, wide-ranging panel discussion (a truly garrulous gathering of gurus) covering what’s new, hot or not in the worlds of writing, publishing, new media and culture. Each episode is timely, irreverent, unashamedly intelligent and weirdly beguiling… Our weekly schedule means that you’re never far from an episode – just reach out and touch us!
All the above Litopia podcasts come under the one RSS feed – search for “LITOPIA” on iTunes and you’ll receive all of them, automatically.
How do I add your podcasts to my software? This one’s easy! Do you already have iTunes installed on your computer? If so, simply click here. If you don’t have iTunes, but do use other podcast software, simply click here and follow the instructions. If you want to add our podcasts manually to your podcast software, do it like this: In iTunes, go to the “Advanced” menu and select “Subscribe to Podcast…”. Then paste this link into the box and hit OK. Other podcast software will have a similar procedure. After that, your podcasting software will automatically download all new programs from Litopia to your computer as soon as they are released.
What free podcast software can I get? Here are some common podcatcher programs:
This is great - can I contribute to the next podcast? Sure! We’re very keen to have listener contributions. Simply go to our OPEN INBOX here, and leave us a message! More information in the Podcast forum at Litopia, www.litopia.com
